Update (6/28/16)

2016 WFA Annual Picnic – Saturday, July 16, 2016

Just a few weeks left until the picnic and I wanted to send out some updates:

  1. If you are planning on camping in a regular site and you haven’t reserved a site yet, please make sure you get your reservations soon.  There also is camping at the Group Site, which you don’t need to reserve, but just note there are no water or electrical hook-ups.
  2. We aren’t sure yet if we will be able to accept credit card payments (it’s subject to my data service), so please be prepared with cash or checks for the auction, Group Site camping, WFA t-shirts, new or renewing memberships, or any other purchases.
  3. If you are planning on attending the Hunter’s Education Course, remember that there is an online course that must be completed first.  Click here for more information.
  4. Please bring your own chairs, blankets, etc.  There will be lots of room to spread out, but limited, if any, seating available.
  5. Hot dogs and hamburgers will be provided, but please bring a side dish to share
  6. Don’t forget to clean out your bookshelves, closets, and storage bins for those falconry items you are no longer using.  Donations for the auction will be happily accepted.

Please make sure when you arrive at the picnic that you find me to check-in, register for the auction, and to just say “hi”.  For more details and a map:  2016 WFA Picnic Flyer

I’m looking forward to seeing everyone in Easton!

The 2016 Annual Summer Picnic will be moving to a new location!  The campground in Fall City was sold last year, leaving us to find a new spot for our big summer event.

This year’s picnic will be at the Silver Ridge Ranch in Easton, WA.  The ranch has tent & RV camping and seven rooms in the lodge available.  We have reserved the group camping site and field as well as the lodge.  Campsites range from $20-25 and rooms in the lodge are $60-80 per night and include breakfast.  The campsites at the group field do not have electricity, so for RV hookups, you will want a regular site with can be reserved through Silver Ridge Ranch.

More information will be coming soon about reserving rooms in the lodge.

Easton is a small town just on the East side of the Cascades, right off I-90.  July temps average in the mid-60s, so it should be pleasant and comfortable.

For more information, you can go to the Silver Ridge Ranch website at www.silverridgeranch.com.

As with previous years, we are planning an Apprentice Workshop, an auction, a BBQ, and an unmonitored weathering yard will be available.   Hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks will be provided.  Please bring a side dish to share.

Please note that dogs must be kept on a leash or in a kennel at all times.  It is important to remember that not all falconry birds are tolerant of dogs.  Please do not approach a bird if you have a dog with you.

The picnic auction is a big fundraiser for WFA each year.  If you would like to make a donation to the auction, please contact the Vice President at vp@wafalconers.org.

  1. I’m a little confused as to how go about this. Do we rsvp? I’m new to WFA. My apologies if this is known info. Thank you.

    • Hey Victory,

You can contact the Vice President at vp@wafalconers.org.

You dont have to RSVP to come to the event on saturday but it is always nice to do so, so we can prepare for how many people are going to make it.

However if you want to camp on friday or rent a room any day you should contact the Silver Ridge Ranch directly. If you would like to camp on saturday contact the VP.

  2. Hello! I was just curious as to whether or not you had to be a WFA member to attend the picnic? I myself am registered, but I am a minor and neither of my parents are registered. Thanks!

    • Hey Kendall,

You can bring your parents to the meet! You do not have to be a WFA member but it is highly encouraged for all those who attend.

      Hope to see you tomorrow…
